Michael Vick’s Replacement Drafted

April 26, 2008

Neil Young said it best: “And once you’re gone, you can never come back.” Truer words have never been spoken, at least regarding Michael Vick’s career as star quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons. The team has just spent the third overall pick of the NFL draft on Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan, a move the New York Times says:

…virtually assures that Michael Vick, the quarterback whose plummet from grace dragged the franchise down with him, will never return to Atlanta. Only a few weeks ago, the Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank would not flatly rule out a return for Vick, who is serving time in a federal prison for his role in a dog fighting operation.

As bleak as Michael Vick’s prospects for a post-prison NFL career were looking, they’ve just grown darker still. Link.
