China, India, and the Food Crisis

Today’s Chicago Tribune has an article that paints a worrying picture of food consumption trends. Although grain prices are already up sharply, the article suggests the other shoe will drop once China and India start becoming net importers of grain. Or, put another way, when the world grows more affluent but grain stocks don’t increase, trouble is on the way. Link.
