Another Story of Vegan Kids Withering Away

Yay! Just what we need. Another mass media story of a mother putting her kids on a vegan diet, and they next thing you know the kids are dropping weight and they’ve got mouths full of cavities.
Turns out it was a raw foods diet, and the kids, from what I can tell from the article, weren’t getting any Vitamin D, and God knows what else they weren’t getting. So what we’ve got here is yet another case of inept reporting where a vegan diet is made to look inadequate, when in reality the diet in question was a poorly planned raw foods diet.
I’m getting this powerful feeling of deja vu. The only thing I can say for sure is that following a vegan diet can clearly raise your blood pressure, especially when you’ve got to read incompetently reported stories like this once or twice a year.
