FDA Hasn’t a Clue About Salmonella Outbreak’s Source

June 28, 2008

Turns out all the hype about tomatoes being at the root of a major U.S. salmonella outbreak may turn out to be untrue. The FDA just announced that none of the 1700 tomatoes they’ve sampled turned out to carry the bacteria. It would be cool if somebody at the FDA would just come out and say, “We don’t know the hell what’s going on with this thing.” But the quotes in this article add up to saying as much.

Anyway, you can bet that whatever the vector for this outbreak, the source of this bacteria will end up being the poultry industry. Link.
