California on Brink of Banning Trans Fats

There’s nothing that annoys me more than Americans who insist that America is the greatest country in the world. But if every state in the union was as socially responsible as California, I think America would win that honor hands down.
California’s latest inspiring move is that it’s poised to ban trans fats in restaurants and cafeterias statewide. Trans fats are basically a chemically modified oil that our bodies don’t know what to do with. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine blames trans fats for at least 30,000 deaths each year in the United States alone.
California’s move against trans fats is part of a trend to purge the very worst abuses from our food supply. We’re seeing industry increasingly held accountable for things like animal cruelty, food contamination, and now the needless presence of trans fats. Link.
