Diabetics Reduce Heart Disease Risk by Going Vegan

October 6, 2008

There’s been strong evidence for quite a while that a vegan diet can be helpful for people suffering from diabetes. And a new study points to less heart disease risk for Type 2 diabetics who are eating a low-fat vegan diet. The study was partly funded by PCRM and appears in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

This just reinforces a point I made ten years ago in my first book: people who are already suffering from chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes don’t tolerate animal products nearly as well as the general population, and oftentimes have more to gain by going vegan. Link.
