Mark Bittman on Seafood

November 16, 2008

This is the best article on seafood and commercial fishing that I’ve seen this year, and probably ever. You need to read it. You might recall the superb Bittman Ted Talk I posted back in May.

Bittman is a die-hard seafood lover, and while there’s nothing he says that could ever tempt me to eat fish, everything he’s talking about is utterly sensible.

If the world’s fisheries are to be saved from collapse, it won’t be from society switching to veganism en masse. It’ll be because conscientious omnivores like Bittman are pointing a sane and plausible way forward. Link.
