Here’s an unusual and deeply moving essay about a guy who had a tropical fish, and actually started paying close attention to the animal. As someone who owned a betta in high school, this story was heartbreaking to me; every few months I think of that fish and wish I’d been conscious enough not to buy him. (Thanks, Derek). Link.
