We’re only five days into the new year, but my bet is that this Newsweek article is the most important hunting-related story you’ll see in 2009. The article asserts, with strong evidence to back up its claims, that modern-day hunting practices are giving a survival edge to the least fit members of each hunted species. Since hunters selectively target the biggest, strongest males, it is the smaller and less fit animals that are gaining the advantage when it comes to passing along their genes.
This is a really solid and persuasive anti-hunting argument that every animal rights person needs to know. Link.
