News about fish populations is almost invariably depressing, but this is some of the worst I’ve seen. There are now calls to cancel the 2009 salmon fishing season in California — and these calls are coming from both commercial and sport salmon fishermen!
I suppose this situation is better than what happened in Newfoundland, where fishermen fished cod populations into oblivion, complaining about government regulations every step of the way. Link.
