Animal Agriculture: The Teflon Industry

April 24, 2009

One of the main themes that runs through my writing concerns animal agriculture’s ability to evade responsibility for the massive harm it creates. Whether it’s worker exploitation, animal abuse, food safety lapses, or environmental hazards, we constantly see animal agriculture getting a free pass for all the damage it inflicts.

And it’s happening yet again; this time with the important issues surrounding greenhouse gases and cattle production. Ezra Klein has a terrific blog post about how the cattle industry has managed to duck the consequences of its significant contribution to climate change. (Thanks, Matt). Link.
