Wired On Antibiotics and the Farm Lobby

July 21, 2009

A week ago, I blogged about the New York Times story reporting on Obama’s effort to reign in antibiotic usage at factory farms.

Now Wired has published a great followup piece that provides solid background information. It looks at the farm lobby’s attempt to evade an antibiotics crackdown and concludes:

If they win, the farm lobby will have proved itself more powerful than the public interest.

They already prove that every day. Just visit any school cafeteria, or take a look at existing corn and dairy subsidies. Link.
