Dolphin Slaughter Halted — For Now

The Japanese town featured in “The Cove,” a film about dolphin slaughter, has let go half the dolphins it rounded up this week, and will sell the remainder to aquariums.

[a local official] said it was unclear whether the town would stop killing dolphins. He said residents wanted to avoid trouble, but did not want to cave in to activists and give up what they see as a tradition.
