Foods Ranked by Weight Gain Potential

The New England Journal of Medicine has published a Harvard study ranking foods associated with weight gain and weight loss.

Potatoes, non-diet soda, and meat top the list of weight-gaining foods, while yogurt, nuts, fruits, whole grains, and vegetables rank highest as the foods that help you shed pounds.

Great news for vegans, apart from the potato and yogurt findings.

I used to think that calories per pound was the best way to rank the weight gain potential of a given food, but it appears that other, more important, factors were captured by this study.
