Ginny Messina on Being a Persuasive Advocate

Ginny Messina’s got a terrific blog post about evaluating the different messages used to promote veganism.

She doesn’t get into the approach that I favor: throwing buckets of mud at animal agribusiness regarding animal cruelty, food safety, climate change, and general sliminess. I rarely bring up veganism in conversation without first laying the groundwork by covering these topics.

What’s great about Ginny’s post is that it ends by acknowledging that there’s been no solid research about what rhetorical approaches are most persuasive. So anyone who is certain that he or she has found the best possible approach is, to me, someone best ignored. Link.
