I love this book and I hope everyone who won a copy enjoys it as much as I do. If you didn’t win, no worries: I’ll do another book giveaway within the month.
I also tallied up the votes for the best song of all time. Clint Holmes’ breathtaking “Playground of My Mind” brought up the rear with just fifteen votes. The Black Eyed Peas’ ode to perfectly functional relationships, “My Humps,” drew 65 votes. Neil Diamond’s rousing, “They’re Coming to America,” drew an enthusiastic 68 votes. The Starship’s beautifully authentic non-commercial homage to American radio, “We Built this City,” drew 97 votes. And Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” came out on top with 148 votes.
Inexplicably, many people were complaining about the song selection. One person rightly griped that Europe’s “The Final Countdown” deserved to be included, a second suggested Foreigner’s “Jukebox Hero,” while a third wanted something from Garth Brooks.
Another person wrote, “I am only picking one because this won’t let me submit without a choice.” Still another wrote, “Terrible selection of songs to choose from!!!!” Yet another response: “Wow, that song thing was cruel.” And finally, an entrant wrote, “why oh why did you make me choose one of those songs?” I can only say in response: there ain’t no good guy, there ain’t no bad guy, there’s only you and me and we just disagree.
On a more serious note, dozens of people surprised me by leaving comments about how much they enjoy my work with this blog. To paraphrase Paula Deen: Y’all made my week!
