Limbaugh Records Two Pro-HSUS Spots

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has just come out with two public service announcements embracing the Humane Society of the United States. One attacks dog fighting, while the other talks about the link between religion and compassion towards animals.

This is a huge deal. The spots are well-argued and nicely done, and they’re certain to get Limbaugh’s vast audience thinking about animal protection issues. Click the links above and listen to the spots: they’re great. And here’s some commentary from HSUS, Politico, and HSUS chief Wayne Pacelle.

The factory farm interests at Drovers.com have made clear they’re upset with Limbaugh’s pro-animal stance. Their sample letter [PDF file] for animal abusers to send to Limbaugh is well worth reading.

This is one of the most significant developments to happen for animals all year. It’ll be interesting to see if Limbaugh becomes an even greater supporter animal protection as he continues to think about the issues.
