Livestock’s Long Shadow, an exhaustive 390-page 2006 United Nations report, is the most widely-cited publication highlighting animal agriculture’s contribution to global warming. It’s the document that established animal agriculture as a driving force behind climate change.
But now a new article published by the Worldwatch Institute asserts that Livestock’s Long Shadow dramatically undercounts the amount of greenhouse gases produced by animal agriculture. The article’s supporting evidence is compelling. The article concludes with suggested policy changes that agribusiness interests are certain to hate. (Thanks, Billie.) Link [PDF].
