Meat Processor Recalls 226K Pounds Spoiled Beef

Remember Topps Meat Co? From what I can tell, the very same plant associated with America’s second largest beef recall is back in the news.

A USDA press release from today:

One Great Burger, an Elizabeth, N.J., establishment, is recalling approximately 226,400 pounds of ground beef products that may have become spoiled, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The problem was discovered by FSIS during an investigation into customer complaints of discoloration and off-odors in the products.

Seems like the perfect opportunity for the company to rename itself to One Million Rotting Burgers. I’d love to know how much of this decaying meat was eaten before the recall was initiated. (Thanks, Bea.) Link.
