Ohio Funds Slim Jim Plant While Cutting Off AIDS Patients

Last month, Bloomberg reported that 46 states are “facing Greek-style deficits.”

So thank goodness that one of these states, Ohio, just had the wisdom to hand over $400,000 to ConAgra to expand a meat packaging plant. And what kind of meat product will this plant be churning out? Slim Jims.

ConAgra is hardly hurting financially: the company recently announced a pre-tax operating profit of $1.084 billion in its most recent fiscal year.

Meanwhile, in an effort to reign in spending, Ohio announced this month that it’s cutting off free medication to upwards of a thousand HIV/AIDS patients. (Thanks, Jimmy.)
