AC/DC needs to update their classic song “Big Balls” with a final verse about Pete Bethune, because—say what you want about the Sea Shepherd’s anti-whaling efforts—Pete’s got the biggest balls of them all.
Last month, you may recall that the Sea Shepherd’s Ady Gil was rammed in arctic waters by a Japanese whaling vessel. One Sea Shepherd crew member suffered broken ribs, and the Ady Gil was torn in half and sank.
So check this out: the Ady Gil’s skipper, Pete Bethune, just sneaked on board one of Japan’s security ships, then handed over a bill for $3 million for his sunk ship, while claiming he had authority to arrest the captain. According to the Sea Shepherd’s Paul Watson:
It was extremely dangerous. He was boarding a ship going at 15 knots in total darkness in Southern Ocean waters, which are extremely frigid.
His mission is to attempt a citizen’s arrest of the skipper of Shonan Maru No.2 for the destruction of the Ady Gil and attempted murder of six Ady Gil crew. [Link]
