Encouraging Chicago Tribune article about the trend toward pulling the crap out of school vending machines and replacing it with healthful foods:
Crispy edamame, fresh bananas, fruity organic waters and pomegranate spiked nut clusters could replace sweets and sports drinks in school vending machines thanks to a crop of healthier products and government initiatives.
Some schools are even installing vending machines that sell refrigerated sliced fruit. This is clearly a case in which a few government-based incentives are driving rapid nationwide change. (Via PCRM.) Link.
