A new study has found that Americans’ Vitamin D blood levels have dropped considerably over the past twenty years.
This finding is of special interest to vegans. Cow’s milk is usually a good source of Vitamin D, since it’s been fortified. Since vegans don’t drink cow’s milk, they’re more likely to be relying on multivitamins to get sufficient Vitamin D — and many multivitamins apparently have less-than-ideal vitamin D levels.
The multivitamin I take has only half the Vitamin D that this study’s lead researcher recommends for people over 65. Link.
