The Centers for Disease Control has released new swine flu estimates. The agency says that, since April, 22 million Americans have come down with swine flu, and 3900 of these cases have been fatal. The CDC’s Dr. Anne Schuchat says:
What we are seeing in 2009 is unprecedented. As people know, we haven’t had a [flu] pandemic since 1957. To have high rates of influenza in September and October is extremely unusual.
