The lawsuit against Taco Bell for misrepresenting its beef has been dropped. Here’s what I wrote back in January:
While I would love Taco Bell to be sued into oblivion, and I’m all for replacing beef with plant-based materials, I’ve done some initial investigating and I’m skeptical that this lawsuit is viable.
…So, I hope I’m wrong, since it would be great fun to see Taco Bell lose an expensive and embarrassing lawsuit, but from what I’ve seen so far I think the company will prevail.
Today’s New York Times coverage:
Dee Miles, a partner at Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles PC in Montgomery, Alabama, representing Obney, said his firm withdrew the lawsuit after Taco Bell made “changes in marketing and product disclosure.”
In other words, the lawsuit against Taco Bell was based on faulty information. What a week of non-apologies this has been. These guys fucked up and won’t admit it. Link.
