It’s gone from kitchen staple to pariah, and NPR’s “Planet Money” devotes an 18 minute podcast to exploring the downfall of lard. Entertaining and informative stuff, which is unusual for NPR, although narrator Robert Smith is a bit too gleeful in talking about lard’s virtues.
Activists ought to give some thought to ways that the circumstances that doomed lard could be recreated as a template for the fight against meat. Could Field Roast Grain Company sausages become the next Crisco? (Via Kottke.) Link.
