Last week, the New York Times blew the lid off the Dairy Management Inc. story, revealing that the U.S. government has been organizing campaigns to boost consumption of dairy products, despite the horrifying public health consequences.
Not to be outdone by a bunch of Yanks, the British government is taking similarly appalling measures. They’re letting companies like McDonald’s and Pepsi help write government policy on diet’s relation to obesity and disease. And, for good measure, they’re letting booze companies have a say in writing documents that will shape the country’s alcohol policy. (Via O’Brien.) Link.
