Veal Seller to Pay $2 Million on Conspiracy Charge

An Illinois meat company is pleading guilty to felony conspiracy charges, and will pay a $2 million fine:

Prosecutors say the company illegally administered hormones and steroids to veal calves from 1997 through 2004, then claimed the meat was “all-natural.”

But at least the company has turned the corner, and is acknowledging its past mistakes directly and openly:

A woman who answered the phone at the company hung up when a reporter identified himself.
