Amber McDonald of the DC Vegan blog decided to fight back against the city’s Meat Week by starting up DC Meat-Free Week, which began the day after Meat Week ended. This sort of thing is an easy yet powerful activist opportunity: just get a few restaurants to sign on, then contact your local newspapers and foodie websites, and you’re in business.
I know I have some readers who could make this happen in their cities. If you’re one of them, and would like to organize a local Meat-Free Week between April 16th to 22nd, email me and I’ll blog it here. This would be a great project for an independent activist, or a local or campus vegetarian group. Link.
