Monica Davey reports on a rash of pig thefts hitting the Midwest. What’s great about this situation is that, if you know anything about how the pig industry works, you know that this sort of thing could only be done by people inside the industry.
In order for large-scale pig thefts to happen, there needs to be a slaughterhouse modeled after an auto chop shop, plus factory farmers willing to risk felony burglary charges.
Sheriff’s investigator Marc Chadderdon says, “Someone in the business somewhere has the answer as to who’s doing this.”
Chadderdon is certainly correct. And until an arrest is made, everyone who raises pigs is going to distrust and be distrusted. (Thanks, Derek.) Link.
