Another reminder of how thoroughly bought off Congress is by agribusiness interests. From the letter to Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack:
in the current environment of rampant and intentional mischaracterization and misinformation, it is incumbent upon all of us to ensure that consumers are able to make choices that are based on the facts, rather than emotion and hysteria.
Whenever words like “emotion” and “hysteria” are used in this context, it’s to defend an agriculture practice that isn’t defensible. The outcry over pink slime never had nothing to do with emotion or hysteria, and it had everything to do with the facts. Once consumers discovered how pink slime was produced, they decided they wanted no part of eating it. (Via Simon.) Link.
