Agriprocessor Workers Agree to Prison Deal

The gears of justice usually turn slowly, but not this time. Nearly 300 workers, busted on immigration violations and identity theft in the May 12 raid of the Agriprocessors slaughterhouse, have agreed to five months of prison. They will be immediately deported after serving this sentence.

These penalties are much higher than illegal aliens typically face. You have to think that the fact that President Bush no longer needs the Latino vote may have something to do with this.

The one good thing about the deal is that the workers have agreed to testify should a case move forward against the company’s management and ownership. And it looks like such a case is in the works. Link.
