There’s usually nothing I could care less about than celebrity weddings, but this one is different. Now that California allows gay marriages, Ellen DeGeneres was able to wed Portia de Rossi in Los Angeles over this past weekend. The wedding featured a vegan meal for guests, as well as a vegan wedding cake.
I had never heard about Ellen’s interest in veganism, but this May 22 post in Ecorazzi provides context; it looks as if some of Ecorazzi’s speculation has proven true.
The upcoming issue of People magazine, due out this Friday, will devote its cover story to Ellen’s wedding. It’s hard to imagine the People story not mentioning the vegan food angle, so this could turn out to be a Really Big Deal in terms of publicizing vegan eating. Link.
