Jack and Ginny on New DHA and B-12 Research

Ginny Messina and Jack Norris, probably the two top Registered Dietitian bloggers, each wrote this week about a new study concerning vegan woman and DHA. Here’s Ginny’s article and here’s Jack’s.

Jack also blogged about a new study linking low B-12 to elevated homocysteine  levels, and in turn to Alzheimer’s disease.

My non-professional take on things, which these blog entries seem to support, is that it’s a sensible move for vegans to be taking an algae based DHA supplement, and vegans who aren’t taking a B-12 supplement are putting their health at great risk for no reason.
