Meat Industry Opposes New Food Safety Regulations
Here’s an article from Bloomberg that shows the meat industry bellyaching over new food safety regulations:
Congress is increasing the food-safety budget to add inspection resources and considering more than a dozen proposals to combat food-borne illness. They include legislation, approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, to grant the Food and Drug Administration authority to order food recalls even when a company refuses to cooperate.[American Meat Institute President J Patrick Boyle] said the proposal would be redundant, given the incentives that already exist for the current voluntary recall system.
I wonder what fantasy land Boyle inhabits in which people believe the existing voluntary recall system is working. Link.
