New York Times Poll: Pick New Name for HFCS

Since high fructose corn syrup processors are asking the FDA to allow them to change their product’s name, the New York Times has helpfully put this matter up to a reader vote. The five possible choices were submitted by Marion Nestle, Michael Pollan, Michael Jacobson, Barry Popkin, and Andrew Weil.

I like Pollan’s coinage—Enzymatically Altered Corn Glucose—best, precisely because it’s the one that corn processors will like least. Link.
