One of the primary things motivating my work for at least the past decade has been the strong belief that most vegans aren’t all that good at talking about the issues, and are therefore not as persuasive as they need to be: animals die because we can’t articulate the issues effectively. Perhaps the main theme of my book Meat Market is that animal protectionists need to jettison their floofier arguments and instead take every opportunity to rip into the meat industry’s unconscionable behavior. This AP article, which just came out this evening, shows just how hostile the meat industry is to doing the right thing. When push comes to shove, people are exposed to deadly risks so that the financial interests of the meat industry aren’t compromised. Link.
