Daiya Foods (pronounced day-uh) produces vegan cheese products made from arrowroot and other plant-based ingredients. Many vegans consider Daiya cheese to be the finest such product on the market. Launched in 2009, Daiya’s offerings exploded in popularity within the vegan community, and its products can now be found at many major grocery retailers including Whole Foods.
Daiya Foods’ first and most popular product is its cheese shreds, which are available in mozzarella, cheddar, and pepperjack. The company’s product line now also includes cheese wedges, cheese slices, cream cheese spreads, and frozen pizzas.
Daiya cheese melts just like dairy-based cheese (which is something some other vegan cheeses fail to do), and it’s terrific when used for pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, quesadillas, and many other recipes.
