Eating Animals Made Summer Reading Book for Duke and UNC

Incredible news: from a field of 393 suggestions, Duke and the University of North Carolina have selected Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals to be the summer reading book for their incoming freshman classes. The author will be delivering presentations at both campuses this fall.

Duke’s freshman class contains over 1600 students, while UNC’s incoming freshmen class is about 4000 students. That Eating Animals would be chosen is especially amazing considering that North Carolina is America’s #2 pork producing state.

Amazon.com is now selling the book in paperback for under $9; a great price for a must-read. (Via Vegan Outreach.) Link.
