Salon Interviews Jane Goodall

Few people have done as much as Jane Goodall to change the way the world regards animals. Salon has a lengthy interview with her that covers a huge array of topics, from poverty to species preservation to the spiritual. She even talks about her concern for farmed animals:

In the early 70s, I read Peter Singer’s book “Animal Liberation.” Once I learned what factory farms did to cows and pigs and hens, I was totally horrified. I looked at the piece of meat on my plate and I thought this is symbolic of fear and pain and death. I never ate another piece of meat. I’m not a vegan. I’m a vegetarian.

It’s hard to imagine a better short introduction to Goodall’s work and thinking. Link.
