Vegetarianism on the Rise in South Korea

It seems that by burying alive 16 million pigs and cattle, South Korea has unwittingly created a remarkably effective advertising campaign for vegetarianism. Traffic at one of Korea’s top vegetarian websites has increased by four to five times as a result of the cull’s publicity. And numerous articles have appeared in the nation’s top newspapers.

Let’s hope that by killing these animals in such a needlessly cruel way, Korea’s factory farms have created an opportunity for a new wave of animal advocates to emerge and organize. (Thanks, Paul. Via MeatingPlace [membership required].) Link.
